Captain's Log May 12 1430hrs

We're away - tanks full, spirits high.

We'll be in Bermuda sometime Tuesday. Our weather route posted below for those that are interested in following.

Summary:
1) The big storm in the Atlantic continues to mill around
a) it is located close to 37 30n/63w
2) The low will drift to the S and SSE over the next 24 hours
3) Most of the stronger wind is staying off to the E of the area
a) reports show a big increase in wind around and to the E of 74w
4) Will have a NE to ENE wind for departure with the wind trending more left, backing, as you get further offshore
a) wind speeds 10-15 kts tonight
5) The low will be around 34-35n/61 30w Fri
a) stronger flow will edge further to the E as the low moves slowly E and weakens
6) NE winds for Fri
a) although the stronger wind will be off to the E of you, NE flow across the stream of 12-18 kts, will make for fairly rough conditions
b) seas of 9 ft and seas may be quite steep
7) Wind then will diminish Fri night as weak ridge of high pressure from eastern Canada to the eastern US slides E and the low weakens and moves further away
8) Will have very light conditions on Sat as will be in the ridge
9) Flow will then become S Sat night and Sun
10) Low pressure will be over the eastern Ohio Valley on Sun while ridge of high pressure will be near Bermuda
11) Stronger S flow to the W of you
12) Mainly a S wind then is expected into Mon
a) watch for the flow to back some later Mon and Tues with a more SE wind likely close to Bermuda on Tues
13) Wind speeds around 11-16 kts as you arrive in Bermuda
