Rig Tuning
Need to make sure the mast is straight and all the shrouds are pre-tensioned...
-
Life Lines
Added Netting around the bow to help keep important things, like people, from falling through.
-
mini Crane
Adding this hoist will help with loading heavy things on board like the dinghy engine or groceries.
-
Radar
A must have for navigating at night in unfamiliar water - or through fog banks.
-
Shrouds
Some new shrouds - safety first!
-
Fuel Filter
Changed out the old diesel filter for this new Racor model - the clear bowl at the bottom allows you to see quickly if there is water in the fuel (water is heavier than diesel oil)
-
Main Sheet
New running rigging (ropes). Need to be able to count on a line not snapping or kinking at a bad time - also newer lines are easier on the hands, doesn't dry them out
-
Jib Sheets
Red for Port, Green for Starboard.
-
House Battery
New house battery - a lifeline 220AH AGM

Crew in training
My boys helping out.

Life Raft
Revere Offshore liferaft. Holds enough food, water, first aid and flares for 4 days for the entire crew! I can't imagine it will be very comfortable, but I don't think that will be the primary concern if we need to deploy it!
...Janet says it will be more comfortable if you blow it up first.

New Main Sail
Made in Hong Kong by FarEast Sails. Excellent quality and fit. It was a bit of a gamble buying from a loft that hadn't seen the boat, but they new the measurements and the questions to ask. Great result. Highly recommend.

Stowing Food
Graeme helping his Mom stow all the provisions. He said all this food made him hungry. I disagree- Everything seems to make him hungry!

Dinghy Stowed
Looks like a backpack for a boat. You can also see the Jerry Cans on the bow - 60 Gallons of Diesel Fuel. The boat only carries 20 below decks. She burns about .75 Gallons per hour so we'll have about 100 hours of motoring capability. Seems like a lot except that the Azores are 400 hours away. Hopefully the wind will cooperate.
